Here are some basic guidelines to ensure you will get the best possible reconstruction.

Do check the sizing chart carefully. Don't assume that a certain size will fit you because that's what you normally wear, although it is most often the case. Custom orders are not returnable. If you are an in-between size or have other sizing issues do contact VP because your special request can usually be accommodated.

When planning your reconstruction don't limit yourself to band tees! VP has reworked all kinds of shirts, from club tees to work tees, novelty tees and everything in between.

The general rule is to send a new, unwashed shirt that is at least one size bigger than the desired size of your reconstruction. Some styles, such as the ballerina top, cannot be made properly unless the original tee is at least one size up. It also helps to have extra width if the graphic was printed crooked or off-center.

Don't send a girlie tee, a junior or kid sized tee or a tee that currently fits you because it will not be big enough to rework.

Do remember that a used or vintage XL will be smaller than a new XL.

Do look at the condition of vintage tees before you send them. Shirts that are very thin will not ultimately hold up as well. Also, when shirts are washed and dried frequently the shape can warp, placing the graphic off-center. Depending on how large the tee is it may not be possible to completely center the graphic for the reconstruction.

Do take into consideration the size and placement of the graphic. Images that are printed too high or low or that are very wide run the risk of being cut off, especially around the neck and arms.

Don't send a shirt with a large back print for halter or corsets unless you are cool with cutting the print. Those styles use about 12 inches of fabric in the back.

When ordering a zip hoodie don't send a tee with lots of small text or important detailing near the center unless you are cool with losing some of the print. The zipper will take out about an inch of graphic from the center of the print.

Do know that every piece is serged, hemmed and top stitched with black thread. It looks awesome with almost all color tees, especially if there is black in the print. Think twice about a brown tee with green print as you might not be happy with the black stitching.
